Weaponizing the Justice Department
Trump publicly urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to move more aggressively against former FBI Director James Comey, Senator Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James, and announced former personal attorney Lindsey Halligan as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Halligan later obtained indictments against Comey and James. A federal judge dismissed both cases in November after ruling that Halligan had been unlawfully appointed.
