Putting his name on the Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center board, which Trump had filled with allies after taking control of the institution's leadership, voted to add Trump's name to the federally chartered memorial to President John F. Kennedy. A federal judge later ruled that only Congress could change the center's name and ordered Trump's name removed. The Trump-aligned board subsequently voted in August 2026 to place his name back on the building in a different 'restored and renovated by' formulation.
